Scrapwood Project
Nothing of value need be lost.
THE STORY
In the making of fine instruments, even the most precious woods leave fragments behind. Too small for conventional use, these remnants are often discarded despite carrying the same extraordinary character as the original timber. Scrapwood Project challenges this notion of waste, giving new life to Moon Ebony offcuts through patience, imagination, and meticulous craftsmanship. What was once fragmented becomes whole; what was overlooked becomes something worth preserving.

THE STORY
Nothing of value need be lost.

THE DETAILS
Small pieces of Moon Ebony are individually selected and carefully assembled, allowing their contrasting grains and natural patterns to form a unified composition. The philosophy is most clearly expressed in the rosette and fingerboard: rather than concealing the individual fragments, its design celebrates their meeting, each piece remaining visible within the completed circle. Specially selected solid abalone brings a genuine, natural iridescent outline to the composition, complementing the intricate woodwork. The result is more than the recovery of valuable material, it is a study in transformation, where the beauty of the whole emerges precisely because of its many individual parts.

Individual fragments appear to break away from the fretboard and descend towards the soundhole, gradually coming together to form the circular rosette.
