Koa is one of Hawaii’s most culturally significant native hardwoods. Commonly for musical instruments, it is especially admired for its dramatic grain and figured patterns. At MUYUN, we have acquired an exceptionally rare expression of koa, displaying an unusual spectral palette of deep purple and soft pink alongside vibrant orange and warm golden tones. We call this distinctive selection Purple Koa—not as a separate botanical species, but as a reflection of its extraordinary natural coloration and character.

Drawing from the proportions and character of the classic OM, the Phoenix is designed for greater projection and a clear, focused response, while retaining the balance and musicality associated with the format.
Its voice is particularly distinctive in the upper registers, where it delivers a more traditional articulation, clarity, and separation making individual notes speak with exceptional definition.
